Day One: Sacred Renewal
Connecting with Your Inner Self / Bird’s Eye View
Hi, you all!
Welcome to Sacred renewal. I wanted to hold space for everyone, especially during this busy time, to truly appreciate 2024. This will give a little ritual of reverence for the year gone by- all the memories we made, all the challenges we face, and everything we invested our energy into. We’re going through this process every day for the next week and it'll give us a chance to settle in and steal just a few moments of peace.
Create a sacred pause. Be in reception. Be a little slower with yourself to listen deep into your heart, whether it’s broken or broken open. This year-end ritual serves as a snapshot of the year gone by. It's a space to clarify what you most desire at this moment, whether it’s releasing old burdens or moving towards new aspirations.
This inquiry is a compassionate exploration of the beliefs, patterns, and experiences that shaped us. It’s about being curious rather than judgmental, uncovering the golden nuggets hidden in both our triumphs and trials.
To bridge the gap between where we are and where we want to be requires a bit of fearless introspection. Some topics may feel sensitive, so go gently. This is where we get the special sauce—the magic, the sparkle, ✨ the juice.
Take this 5 day writing journey a day at a time. Find some time in the morning or before bed to go into each day’s inquiry. You might feel inspired to doodle rather than write or maybe just use bullet points. Write in a way that feels best for you.
Each day take the time to set the mood. Light a candle, find a relaxing playlist, burn some incense. Whatever it is that makes this time feel a little more dedicated. Turn off all notifications. Set a timer. This will be your sacred container. For a half hour or so, prioritize this process- knowing you could easily get distracted, but vow not to.
Grab a pen and paper- a journal- a cup of tea or joe and let’s take a few moments every day this week to get grounded and gain a little bit of perspective. Write freely, letting your thoughts flow. This is your time to connect with yourself, away from the noise and expectations of the world.
In the midst of our busy lives, it's easy to overlook the importance of tuning into our inner guide. We often get caught up in the hustle and bustle, while striving for external accomplishments. However, life is profound in the present moment. It's all about becoming the witness to what in us most needs to be seen and heard.
We tend to get pulled in a million different directions and very quickly lose our center and any connection with our Self. It's important to align with who you are and what you want right now.
Connecting with Your Inner Self: Main Focus
Think about the past year. What were the overarching themes? If considering the whole year feels overwhelming, focus on the past season instead. What was the central focus of this year? Was it career? Wellness? Family? Study? Perhaps it was about navigating changes or simply maintaining balance.
What was the need or motivation that made this a priority?
Bird’s Eye View: Highs and Lows
Each year carries its own vibe. The days and months each seem to capture a flair for a certain kind of inspiration. This is what becomes our rhythm. January may offer an exciting promise of new beginnings, yet it's crucial to pause and reflect on the highs and lows as they shaped us. It’s important to see this past year as a catalyst for hope, motivation, and creation.
As you pan out to a bird’s eye view, what were your highs and lows of the year? Try and write them as a laundry list or a catalog - without too much story or criticism. See them simply as moments in a time capsule.
Photographic memory.
What was your favorite memory of the year? Describe it in as much detail as you can remember? Paint the picture and relate the scene. Sketch or doodle, whatever medium captures the moment. If you have more than one favorite moment, write the booth down. Collect them all.
This depth of connection is about seeing the part of your life that yearns for intention and all the pieces of yourself that request attention. With this self-awareness, we can attune to intuition and trust those subtle whispers.
We are eager to refresh our routine with a surge of creative energy. However, before we rush into the future with a new set of goals, there are some essential steps we shouldn’t skip over. This practice of reflect, review, and renew isn’t just about looking back; it’s about crafting a roadmap to move forward with clarity and purpose. It’s about learning to use the past as a resource in preparation of all that is to come.
