Day Two: Sacred Renewal
Celebrate Your Wins / Name the Chapter
Create the Sacred Container:
Take this 5 day writing journey a day at a time. Find some time in the morning or before bed to go into each day’s inquiry. Some topics may feel sensitive, so go gently. You might feel inspired to doodle rather than write, or maybe just use bullet points. Write in a way that feels best for you.
Each day take the time to set the mood. Light a candle, find a relaxing playlist, burn some incense. Whatever it is that makes this time feel a little more dedicated. Turn off all notifications. Set a timer. This will be your sacred container. For a half hour or so, prioritize this process- knowing you could easily get distracted, but vow not to.
Grab a pen and paper- a journal- a cup of tea or joe and let’s take a few moments every day this week to get grounded and gain a little bit of perspective. Write freely, letting your thoughts flow. This is your time to connect with yourself, away from the noise and expectations of the world.
If you know you want to sit the 5 day writing journey out, I get it - my wish is not to overwhelm you or your inbox. Simply scroll to the footer of this page and unsubscribe from the section named “Sacred Renewal.” Then you’ll continue to get only the regular weekly post!
There’s a lot that happens internally when we take a moment to celebrate and imprint our memories. Recognizing these achievements feeds the impulse to keep moving in the direction of what we want - to keep reaching for our goals. These are the times that infuse our dharma and let us thrive in our unique skills and talents.
We need those pauses, those mental high-fives. They’re good for us; they’re good for our brains. Celebration is powerful. It triggers all those happy hormones! Those little high-fives boost our self-confidence and motivation, igniting our determination to stretch further and inspire those around us. It may seem counter-intuitive, but it is what we need to do most when life weighs us down.
Claiming Victories: Celebrate
Think about all of the things from this past year that you want to acknowledge and celebrate. Nothing is too small. Success deserves to be named and claimed. Often, we tend to gloss over these moments—especially if you’re someone who thinks the spotlight is cringey. Stand strong in the accomplishments of what you already have and for who you already are.
What are the top three things you want to celebrate? Maybe you had a successful time in the garden, grew the perfect tomato, or reached an important milestone at work.
Milestones: Name the Chapter
The in-between never feels very comfortable. We straddle change with one foot in the old and one foot in the new, anticipating what’s next. Life is a sequence of experiences, opportunities, events, and choices. So we don’t get lost in a tangle of endings and beginnings, we can decidedly mark our timeline. Give closure where it’s needed, congratulations where it’s earned - name your chapter.
What would you say this year was about? Is there a word, phrase, or feeling that captures its essence. If you were writing a book, what would the name of this chapter be? Give it a place in the story of who you are becoming.
This reflection is about marking milestones and claiming even the smallest of victories. As a society focused on setting goals, all too often we let significant moments slide through our fingers. Without any notable pause or celebration- the moment slips into a blur of time.
In insatiable pursuit, for some, an incessant drive to conquer the next thing pushes right past any recognition. For others, something in us wants to diminish any sort of accomplishment for fear of being the center of attention. In order to tap into a greater sense of fulfillment, we need to claim our wins!
We need to bookmark these times. Store them in our memory banks to cash in for future nostalgia. Adorning certain moments in special detail makes our life richer. Rites of passage and traditions wrap us in the story of humanity and root us in our lineage. In community and connection, we take our place in the circle. We say to life, “me too”.
