Life Mandala Writing Journey: Week Five
The Who, What, Where, Why, When and How of your story.
Week FIVE! Can you believe it? That’s a whole lot of writing, thinking, reading, listening and learning… You are amazing. For any and all of it.
In the blur of days, it’s easy to take for granted what we KNOW for what we think we know. There’s this great gift, clarity, that sometimes requires a deep dive to swim underneath the surface of things. With curiosity and courage, we are drawn along the journey. Thanks for having both.
Join me as a paid subscriber next Thursday, May 1 at 6:30 pm for the Life Mandala Workshop. We will bring it all together - together. Finally, focusing on - the How?

When is the Right Time?
Read through on your own or be guided through each prompt with this video.
In our writing journey last season, Sacred Renewal, we talked a little bit about the dance of reception and creation. For some of us, creative endeavors expand from quiet spaces; for others, they spark from chaos - however it comes, inspiration needs an incubation period. We may start with a tiny inkling of what we want to create; then, by engaging our imagination, the lens gets sharper. Ideas shift into focus. We gain clarity -we see it, feel it, and know with certainty exactly how we want to proceed. Even if the first action we take doesn’t lead directly to success, it gets us started. Creation begets creativity.
From our vision, we decide on a specific goal that keeps us anchored in reality. Then, brainstorm all the pathways to get to the goal. Strategizing puts us in charge. Declare what you want, develop a plan, and make the first move. We define our path of purpose, shifting from reception to creation.
Willingness and Clarity
It’s important to distinguish the threshold of your will. The key to maintain motivation is in your willingness to continue showing up for what you want. If there’s consistent resistance to the work, then the effort will only deplete the joy of the journey to get you to your dream. You have to set your plan of action and measure it against what you are willing to do.
Is the effort and expense more than you are willing to expend to get what you want?
(ex. If you want a nice car, are you willing to work more/earn more/save more to get the car? If you want to write a book, are you willing to create and dedicate a certain amount of time to writing each day? Even if it means getting up an hour earlier or turning off Netflix?)
Once you have this kind of clarity around what you are receptive to and the extent to which you are willing, you sync a visionary energy with a natural timing and flow. You establish your creative rhythm.
Predetermine some decisions that keep you centered in your willingness. Strategize a plan to keep you connected to your goal. What actions can you take in support of it’s accomplishment? What are you doing that might undermine your goal? What are you willing to stop doing or do more of?
Will power and Choice
If will is weak, you may amble through life unsure and unclear of what you want. Without knowing a direction and intention, you become vulnerable to outside influence, after-all not choosing is a choice to let something or someone choose for you. We can be flooded with so many options that we are tackled by decision fatigue or dizzied by decision paralysis. The best way through is to listen to your heart and follow your gut. When you do you are grounded in truth and fueled by fire.
One of the most powerful questions you can ask yourself on the brink of any decision is: Does this decision bring me closer to my vision or lead me away from it?
The answer directs you back to your willpower in every pivotal moment. Even if you decide to step away from your goal, you still made the choice to do so.
When we ignite our will power, it is stronger than any obstacle. The fire keeps us active and moving in the direction of our intention. It has to be able to burn through any resistance and strengthen our capacity of persistence. The desire has to be stronger than any pitfall; clearly knowing where to direct your intention, being able to sustain a focus more vigilant than any obstacle.
As you envision the outcome of your goal, what obstacles may pop up to block your progress? Have a strategy in place. When __ happens, then I will ___.
When is the right time?
In choice you take the opportunity to align with your own vision and values. With clarity you willfully become a wholehearted creator contributing to an outcome without hesitation. Timing is everything. When you are receptive in your willingness, allowing something to meet you where you are and creative in your will power taking an action to meet it, then is the right time.
This is the necessary sway of reception and creation. There is an initiating power at the meeting point between polarities: the moment when will and passion spur potential, the second when stillness becomes motion. Ideas evolve from potential to possibility, then plausibility to probability. Each step is fed by our will and willingness. In our willingness, we are open and ready to receive what comes, antenna extended and feelers out. By our will, we overcome inertia with creative action. The fire is fueled- it’s go time. This is your instant of emergence.
